Help the Bobby Moore Fund with Cancer Research UK

Cancer Research UK has teamed up with the Bobby Moore Fund on an exciting new international project to South America in 2009. Project Ecuador will involve an eleven day trip to renovate a dilapidated school and football pitch in partnership with the local population in small rural town of El Pedregal.
El Pedregal Primary School is an hour and a half drive from Quito, at an altitude of 3500 metres. The school has approximately 35 children aged between 4-11 years old who are taught by 3 teachers. The school is at the heart of this community and students will work alongside project participants in the repair of the school and the play area.

The rural community has approximately 120 families who give up their own time to work on local projects. The parents and local community are very committed to their children’s education, and Project Ecuador will benefit from the assistance of not just the teachers and students, but also the whole community

The team will spend several days working on the project to help repair and rebuild the school. On the final day, there will be a ‘handover ceremony’ to the local community. A football match against a local team and celebratory gala dinner will mark the end of the trip.

Stephanie Moore MBE, Bobby Moore’s widow and founder of the Bobby Moore Fund, said:

‘I took part in the 05, 06 and 07 Projects and found them to be the most rewarding experiences of my life. The help that is being given in these remote areas is vital for the local people to be able to remain in their village, and the money raised through the participants’ fantastic fundraising efforts is hugely important to the work of the Bobby Moore Fund. To know that you are making a real difference to both causes is something very special.’

All fundraising will go to the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK to help tackle bowel cancer.
