Oxfam UK is celebrating their 70th year on the high street and to commemorate this landmark, have brought in a whole host of famous faces for their ad campaign. Leading the way is supermodel Jacquetta Wheeler, who was shot by international photographer Guy Aroch to showcase some of the amazing vintage pieces that can be found in Oxfam stores up and down the country.
The idea was the brainchild of William Banks-Blaney, who is Oxfams’s 2013 fashion patron and brought together this ‘dream team’ absolutely free of charge to help with the charity’s latest campaign. At the end of last year, William spent 6 months visiting Oxfam stores to unearth his favourite hidden treasure to create his first ‘Oxfam Edit’, and was over the moon with what he discovered.
Oxfam Fashion Patron, William Banks-Blaney, said –
I am delighted to be the Oxfam Fashion Patron for 2013 and excited to work with Oxfam, showcasing their amazing selection of clothes and the great work this global charity carries out. I wanted to show the relevance of vintage and second hand clothing and to show how beautifully pieces from different decades can work together.
The final product ended with not just a two day pop up shop in London to showcase the best Oxfam fashion finds, but also a special feature on the Vogue website as part of their ‘Online Fashion Week’.
It’s great to see these amazingly talented individuals coming together for free to celebrate 70 years of Oxfam on the high street. Here’s hoping the extra exposure created by this fashion ‘dream team’ go a long way to helping raise much needed funds to help those less fortunate in the world.
