Cancer Research UK is co-funding the European Prospective Investigation of Cancer (EPIC). This huge study aims to produce highly detailed information about diet and cancer, with over half a million people taking part across 10 European countries. The UK end of the investigation will see 90,000 Brits recruited by Cancer Research groups in Oxford and Cambridge, questioned on their diet and lifestyle.
It is estimated that an unhealthy diet can cause up to 30% of cancer deaths, though you can reduce the risk by eating a healthy, balanced diet. By cutting out fatty foods and processed meats and eating more fruit and vegatables, it is possible to keep a healthy weight and cut the risk of cancer.
