Check out this amazing video featuring Jude Law and the music of Radiohead, as Greenpeace ask you help them Save the Arctic before it’s too late. In the last 30 years, almost 75% of the floating ice cap has been lost, with scientists now claiming this area is now in a ‘death spiral’.
The volume of sea ice in the Arctic is measured every summer by satellites, with the ice at the top of the world reflecting the sun’s heat back into space to cool the planet. This in turn stabilises the world’s weather systems and allows us to grow food, so protecting the ice is protecting the future of not just the planet, but it’s inhabitants…
Namely, me, you and all the animals!
Ice has been a permanent feature of the Arctic ocean for over 800,000 years, but due to the use of dirty fossil fuel it’s melting rapidly. In the very near future it could be completely ice free for the first time in human existence, meaning catastrophic consequences for everyone unless something is done now.
Greenpeace are looking for 1 million signatures to help the Save the Arctic. They are currently half way to that total, so why not click on the link below and add your name to the list of people that are concerned for the world’s plight. I just did, and it literally takes half a minute to join the cause. You can also join their Save the Arctic Facebook group to be kept up to date with all the latest information, and demand world leaders declare a global sanctuary around the North Pole.
