Oxfam UK is asking for your help in their appeal to raise funds for the people of East Africa who are currently struggling through extreme drought, causing loss of crops and livestock. More than 10 million people have been effected in what has been the worst drought conditions for 60 years, and with food prices currently going through the roof, things are only going to get worse unless help is at hand.
The video below was filmed in Wajir in Kenya, where there is almost no clean water, and as you can see, this has disastrous effects on the local people.
Oxfam’s Humanitarian Director, Jane Cocking, said –
This is the worst food crisis of the 21st Century and we are seriously concerned that large numbers of lives could soon be lost. People have already lost virtually everything and the crisis is only going to get worse over the coming months – we need funds to help us reach people with life-saving food and water.
